I used to feel that way as well, David. I see where you're coming from. I've since had a change of heart, and I started to be more excited to celebrate birthdays.
There's an old hymn I used to sing called "Count Your Blessings," and I try to remember it, especially when I get upset about my birthday. It happens inevitably sometimes.

Well if it's that painful celebrating a Birthday,i'm not too anxious about getting old.. That hymn that Robin was and probably is still singning,says it all in the title itself,always be grateful that you have another birtday to celebrate.
Getting old is just another way of living.I would even say that i'ts like switching from one season to another.When that change occurs,we have to simply adapt to it because we are just moving one more step ahead as we always did since we were born.
For me it's only a reminder that i should be grateful and proud of every single moment which allows me to me to still be be part of this wonderful miracle of life.
Every morning,i get up being thankful and grateful of being able to see a new day ahead .So, why not Keep On smiling and accept life as it is in all it's beauty.
