Subject: Going back to College :) IP: Logged
Message: I am finally going back to College I am soo excited too!!!
Today is the day that I go in and talk with an Advisor (actually within the next hour and a half) and schedule my classes for Fall 2009
Though, I'm kind of worried.. and I know Advisors are there to help you pick out classes and all. But the School that I am going to doesn't even have their 2009/2010 Catalog out yet.. what good does that do?
My Best Friend picked me up a Summer Catalog from her Work, just to give me an idea what the classes are, where they are taken (there are several Campuses), etc. I looked at a few classes and the class I am really excited about is ASL: American Sign Language
But I feel dumb-founded because I will be walking in and the Advisor will think I am stupid for not knowing what to take. Though, since eventually I will work towards Photography, I will be starting off with a Associate in Arts and Sciences.. that is all I know of
In a few short hours, I will be a Officially a Returning College Student!! About Time! heh

Message: I scheduled classes today... well I met with Marsha Davis, because Robert Patterson (makes me think of Rob Pattinson from Twilight, aka Edward Cullen ) wasn't available.. lol. She went over some classes with me, but I actually had to go down to the basement to sign up for them. I never had to go to two different places before to sign up..
ASL (American Sign Language) and Art Appreciation were the only 2 classes I was taking in class. Psychology and English Comp II online.
I really want to take ASL.. but with the Cruise coming up (already booked), I am going to miss at least 4 classes of ASL and 2 of Art. I really do want to take ASL.. but what if I took all my classes online this semester.. practiced my ASL (Mom and I got some books, so we both can learn) and than Spring 2010, go into ASL knowing a little something.
My Parents would like to stay in Florida at our Time Share an extra week.. but if I have a job, that would be limited, of course. I'll have a laptop (want to buy one) and I can take my classes and write my papers by the pool
For Arts and Humanities.. I can't decided to take
Art - Humanities - Journalism & Mass Communications - Philosophy - Religious Studies - Speech Communication - Theatre Arts - Women Studies
Now, Theatre Arts sounds like a fun class.. and all of those I can take online.
What do you ladies and gents think?

Message: I like your choices. I think you should take Theatre Arts. Women Studies is nice but boring. Trust me. I took it. It is good you can take these classes online. Once you get used to it, you got it made. It sounds good. Congrats Meg.

Message: I talked it over with my Brother a little bit.. and asked him what I should do. This first semester, just to get into the swing of things; I will be taking all online classes.
As for American Sign Language.. I am going to study with the books that my Mom bought for us to use, practice and study. I know going into Beginners ASL, no one will know much about it, like me.. but I would like to know the basics before going into a Full Term Class of ASL.
I changed my schedule around this afternoon and I'm sure I'll be changing it around again
I will be taking:
English Composition II
General Psychology
Theatre Appreciation
Women in the World
With dropping ASL.. I was trying to figure out if I should take the extra class in "Arts & Humanities" or "Social & Behavioral Sciences"
My Brother narrowed it down to 3 different options to look into. He actually said that I would like Women Studies But the one that I am taking is a little different.. Instead of the 1510 class, I am taking the 2010.. which it looks a lot more interesting in the description than the 1510 class
My Brother suggested; which all 3 listed are from "Social & Behavioral Sciences," Education (but there are so many, I'd have to ask my Advisor which one I'd need). Urban Studies and Women Studies. Between the 2, my brother recommended Women Studies. I am really half tempted to take Sociology.. I mean, I need 10 credit hours for "Social & Behavioral Sciences" .. might as well take it.
I don't want to overload myself, especially just getting back into school. Can you believe it's been 7 years since I've been to school? I'm not counting when I transferred home.. because well.. that was just a bad time in my life.. school didn't seem to be a huge priority in my life at the time which I totally regret now!
But I am happy now, and I finally have my mind set on what I want to do, and I'm going for it!

Message: Hey Meggies. FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!!! It's fantastic you are going back to college and taking control of your life.
Your brother helped you in finding the perfect balance of courses. It's a wide range so you have many options for a career after you graduate.
I liked "Women Studies" especially when we studied the "Women's Lib of the 1970's" when I was a freshman in college. I was into it and wanted to burn my bras after that course. Not that anyone would notice. I think you are going to like it.
A fantastic idea starting the semester off, online. It's less pressure for now.
It's looking FANTASTIC for you now and in the future.
